Characterized by joyful confidence in the authority and truthfulness of Scripture and an earnest desire to see the good news of Jesus permeating all aspects of faith and life.

Contextually Relevant

Marked by attentiveness to and intentional engagement with Asian contexts. We recognize and welcome a diversity of approaches to contextual engagement.

Submission Guidelines

  1. Submissions should be 6,000–8,000 words, inclusive of footnotes.
  2. Format according to the latest editions of Turabian and the Chicago Manual of Style.
  3. Do not include any identifying information in the body of the article. References to the author's own previous work should use the third person.
JAET will not accept submissions of articles previously published in any form, though exceptions may be made for articles published only in other languages. No article may be submitted to JAET if it is already under review elsewhere.

Call for Papers: Formed and Sent

📍 Philippines 📅 February 5–7, 2026 In collaboration with CTIA

In collaboration with the Center for Theological Inquiry in Asia (CTIA), JAET invites submissions for a joint symposium on the theme: "Formed and Sent: Spiritual Formation and Mission." This symposium explores the vital intersection of spiritual formation and mission, particularly within the Asian context.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

Theological and biblical foundations of spiritual formation and mission
Spiritual disciplines and their impact on missional engagement
Contextualized approaches to spiritual formation and mission
The role of spiritual formation in leadership development
Spiritual formation and social justice / transformation
Case studies of spiritual formation and mission
Challenges in integrating spiritual formation and mission
The impact of culture and tradition on spiritual formation
Interfaith dialogue and spiritual formation for mission

Per Winning Paper — Ten Awards

Ten winning papers will each receive a prize of USD 2,000 and will be published in a future volume of JAET. Non-winning papers may also be accepted for presentation and considered for publication. Submit your complete paper (without identifying information) in Word format to editor@jaet.asia and indicate the submission is for the "Formed and Sent" symposium.
